For the avid professional sports fan, Tampa is full of sporting events.
The Tampa Bay area is home to many professional sports teams including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (NFL), the Tampa Bay Lightning (NHL), Tampa Bay Rays (MLB), and the Tampa Bay Rowdies (USL). At any point in the year, you can be sure there is a professional game to attend! Consequently, when sporting events aren’t taking place, there are plenty of concerts and shows being held at the stadiums/arenas.
Things to Do
At night or on the weekend, there are plenty of things to do around town when living in Tampa. From the Florida Aquarium and the Clearwater Aquarium (former home of the movie star Winter, from Dolphin Tale) to ZooTampa at Lowry Park, Busch Gardens, Ybor City, and Top Golf, there are plenty of action-packed activities to fill your time. If you’d like to slow things down, there are also a variety of parks in the Tampa Bay area, including Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, Lowry Park, Lettuce Lake Regional Park, Ballast Point Park, and Morris Bridge Park, to name a few. Within an hour’s drive, there are beaches galore, such as Clearwater Beach, St. Pete Beach, Davis Island Dog Beach, Caladesi Island State Park, Honeymoon Island State Park, and Treasure Island State Park.

Tampa Bay is home to a variety of breweries including Cigar City Brewing, Angry Chair Brewing, Brew Bus Tampa Bay, Cigar City Cider and Mead, Coppertail Brewing Company, Fermented Reality Biergarten, Mr. Dunderbaks’ Biergarten and Brewery, Six Ten Brewing, Tampa Bay Brewing Company, Yuengling Brewing, 81Bay Brewing, 3 Daughters Brewing, and more. Additionally, there are also plenty of bars and clubs if you are looking for other varieties of nightlife.
If you enjoy museums or shows at the theatre, you’ve come to the right city.
The Tampa Bay area was recently named one of the top five most culturally diverse and integrated urban areas in the Country. This was determined by the U.S. Census Bureau. Therefore, living in Tampa, it’s no surprise that it is a city rich in art and museums, as well. The museums in the Tampa Bay area are plenty and include the Tampa Museum of Art, Tampa Bay History Center, Henry B. Plant Museum, Ybor City State Museum, Museum of Science and Industry, SS American Victory Mariners’ Memorial & Ship Museum, Tampa Police Museum, Glazier Children’s Museum, Tampa Firefighters Museum, Salvador Dali Museum, and more. If you are in the mood for a show, you could visit one of the award-winning theatres. Check out the Straz Center for the Performing Arts and the Tampa Theatre.
