Through our 2-Day Summer Leadership Program and 10-Week Summer Internship Program, students can expect meaningful opportunities to learn, connect, grow, and experience what it means to be a professional at THF.
Each program is intentionally designed with the rising accounting professional in mind, offering opportunities for professional development, hands-on learning, networking, relationship building, and firsthand exposure to our culture. Students build confidence, explore career paths, and develop the skills and connections that prepare them for success beyond the classroom.

Summer Leadership Program
Explore Public Accounting. The THF Way.
Our 2-day immersive conference experience allows students to gain a firsthand look inside the career of a regional public accounting firm from the perspective of CPA professionals. Students will have meaningful opportunities to explore career paths, connect with THF team members, development professional skills, and experience the thriving culture and day-to-day environment of what it would look like to work at our firm.

Summer Internship Program
Experience Public Accounting. The THF Way.
Our Summer Internship Program provides students with the opportunity to experience what public accounting is really like. During ten weeks, interns work alongside our audit and tax professionals, participate in hands-on technical training, visit client sites, and receive ongoing professional development and mentorship. But the experience is about more than the work itself. Our interns get to know our people and learn from professionals at every level, from staff to shareholders. They get to experience the unique culture of a regional firm where you can be seen, heard, and connected.
At THF, we want our interns to leave with more than experience on a resume. We want them to have a genuine understanding of the profession, a better sense of what it means to be a public accounting professional, and connections that continue well beyond the summer.
The 10-Week Summer Internship Program
Both pathways are offered concurrently throughout the ten weeks.
5 weeks audit • 5 weeks tax
The Divided Program
Explore Both Sides of Public Accounting
Not sure whether audit or tax is the right fit for you? Our Divided Internship Program gives students the opportunity to experience both. Over the course of 10 weeks, our interns spend five weeks working alongside our audit team and five weeks with our tax team, gaining firsthand exposure to the work, people, and procedures within each service line during one internship experience.
In Audit, interns have the opportunity to:
- Assist with audit procedures and perform internal control testing
- Perform detailed reviews of financial statements and supporting documents
- Obtain a working knowledge of research techniques and various resources available
- Work alongside audit professionals for team-based engagements
In tax, interns have the opportunity to:
- Prepare tax returns and conduct relevant research
- Gain exposure to different types of tax work and client needs
- Assist with industry specific projects
- Learn how tax professionals analyze information and develop solutions for client needs
- Experience two sides of public accounting through five weeks in Audit and five weeks in Tax.
The Divided Internship Program is ideal for students who know they want to build a career in public accounting but want firsthand experience before deciding which service line is the best long-term fit. Rather than choosing between audit and tax based solely on what you’ve heard in the classroom, you’ll have the opportunity to experience both and make that decision based on your own experience.

The Concentrated Program
Go Further in Your Chosen Service Line
Already know whether audit or tax is the right fit for you? Our Concentrated Internship Program allows you to spend all 10 weeks immersed in the service line you’ve chosen. Rather than dividing your time between two areas, you’ll work alongside the same team members throughout the summer, giving you more time to build technical knowledge, take on meaningful assignments, develop relationships, and gain a deeper understanding of the day-to-day work involved in your chosen area of public accounting
In Audit, interns have the opportunity to:
- Build on your audit knowledge by applying what you learn to increasingly complex assignments throughout the summer
- Collaborate with team members on industry specific projects, providing support and contributing to project deliverables
- Develop stronger technical skills through continued exposure to audit procedures, testing, financial statements, and supporting documentation
- Gain a better understanding of how audit professionals conduct investigative research techniques to identify and resolve issues
In tax, interns have the opportunity to:
- Build on your tax knowledge by applying what you learn to increasingly complex assignments throughout the summer
- Develop deeper technical skills by applying tax concepts and a variety of research techniques to real-world situations
- Gain broader exposure through dedicated focus on a variety of tax return preparation
- Strengthen your technical knowledge through hands-on application of tax concepts across a wide range of real-world situations
The Concentrated Internship Program is designed for students who are already confident in the service line they want to pursue long-term. With ten weeks dedicated to one area, you’ll have the opportunity to go beyond an introduction to the profession and gain deeper, more meaningful experience that helps prepare you for your future as an audit or tax professional.
Internship Eligibility Requirements
- A student majoring in Accounting
- Competitive GPA and relevant coursework
- Plans to pursue a career in public accounting
- Must have at least Junior standing at the time of applying
