Support the Capital Area Chapter Red Cross

In the greater Tallahassee area, residents are still recovering from the tornadoes and storms that devastated communities earlier this month. At least three tornadoes and winds over 100 mph hit the area May 10, damaging homes, downing trees, and leaving thousands without power.

Red Cross volunteers from across the country are arriving daily to help support the response. These volunteers are supporting families in our shelter, delivering meals, conducting case work, assessing damage, and providing comfort and care to our neighbors in need.

Help people affected by disasters like tornadoes, fires, and countless other crises by making a gift to American Red Cross Disaster Relief.

Your gift powers our organization with strong infrastructure, trained volunteers, innovative technology, and the critical resources necessary to provide immediate relief and support.

  • $225 provides critical relief supplies. These relief supplies include a cooler, flashlight, batteries, hand sanitizer, insect repellant and sunscreen and a cleanup kit. They are stored and ready for distribution in multiple locations nationwide.
  • $842 provides food and shelter for a family of 4 for 5 days. This service includes providing breakfast, lunch and dinner, the costs to mobilize and distribute a cot, two blankets and a comfort kit as well as the costs of Red Cross workers to provide this support.
  • $1,200 provides additional financial assistance for a family impacted by a disaster to help bridge gaps during recovery. After some disasters, a second round of financial assistance can be provided to households who have additional recovery barriers on a major disaster response. This assistance fills the gap when a disaster destroys the community’s ability to help itself recover and other large-scale resources are not available.
  • $2,600 deploys Red Cross disaster management digital infrastructure for 1 day. This covers the daily cost to develop, run and maintain the Red Cross’s Disaster Management IT systems. It enables the Red Cross and our partners to share visual situational awareness and draw on near real-time data to better manage operations.

For our neighbors who have lost everything, the Red Cross provides the means for survival and the resources to bounce back emotionally and financially.

YOU CAN HELP PEOPLE affected by tornadoes and countless other crises by making a gift to Red Cross Disaster Relief. Your gift is a commitment to helping people in need, and every single donation matters. Your gift enables the Red Cross to prepare for, respond to and help people recover from disasters big and small.
