Thomas Howell Ferguson P.A. CPAs (THF) celebrates the 2022-2023 academic year with John G. Riley Elementary School and the Tallahassee Chamber Classroom Connection program

Thomas Howell Ferguson P.A. CPAs (THF) or “the Firm”, celebrated the end of a successful 2022-2023 academic school year with John G. Riley Elementary School and the Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce Classroom Connection program.

THF continued its participation with the Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce Classroom Connection program in partnership with World Class Schools and Leon County Schools. This initiative pairs chamber members as a sponsor with one classroom within Leon County Schools. This year, THF partnered with Ms. Samira Hackshaw’s First-Grade class at John G. Riley Elementary School where Mr. Maurice Stokes serves as Principal. Since the first day of school, THF ensured that the classroom, as well as the educator, received the support that they needed. This enabled students to not only matriculate through the school year with resources but also feel empowered in their education.

“I appreciate Thomas Howell Ferguson and the support of all of the volunteers who came to my classroom,” said Ms. Hackshaw. “The students enjoyed seeing adults in their classroom who care and read to them as well as participated in activities. This year has truly been impactful for the class!”

THF was not only impactful in their approach, but intentional in their support. This academic year, THF participated in the Back-to-School Celebration on the first day of school with other business partners, provided school supplies and classroom snacks, read and taught students about American icons, participated in Riley Elementary School’s Fall Trunk-or-Treat, supplied first-grade students with gifts over the winter and spring holidays, and sponsored and provided chaperones for the students’ field trip to the Challenger Learning Center and Imax Theater this spring.

THF Shareholder and Community Engagement Chair Brian Walgamott, CPA was appreciative of this experience to work with John G. Riley Elementary. “Our firm appreciates Principal Maurice Stokes, John G. Riley Elementary School faculty and staff, and the Tallahassee Chamber for allowing us to continue this partnership in the Classroom Connection program” shared Walgamott. “We were proud to make a difference within the classroom and hope that the students felt the support, they are truly deserving.”

The firm participated in supporting this classroom along with other Tallahassee Chamber partners who provided their resources to various classrooms at John G. Riley Elementary School. THF team members who participated in support include staff from various departments.
